Clinicopathological Study of Pleural Effusion In A Tertiary Care Hospital.

Background: Pleural effusion is an excess fluid that accumulates between two pleural layers. analysis and cytology are the mainstays for diagnosing various pulmonary diseases. Levels of adenosine deaminase (ADA) particularly useful in areas where prevalence tuberculosis high. Objectives: To find clinical profile etiology respect age sex level different causes effusion. Materials Methods: This was observational study carried out Department Laboratory Medicine a tertiary teaching hospital, Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College & Hospital (KYAMCH), Enayetpur, Sirajganj, Bangladesh. Biochemical done by Olympus AU-400 Papanicolaou stain. Result: A total 173 cases diagnosed taken present study. Tuberculosis primary 82 (47.39%), followed malignancy accounting to 30 (17.34%). These were parapneumonic (10.40%). ADA highest TB (167U/L) comparison with malignancy, transudative cause other causes. Conclusion: Most common hospital setting tuberculosis, malignant than any cause. KYAMC Journal Vol. 13, No. 02, July 2022: 98-101
